Meet Tansy…

Tansy is 38 years young, she’s hot, single and quite the catch! Her secrets to looking fabulous… Gym. Vegan. Sunscreen.

So, how did she get her hot bod? Let’s find out…

What are your stats? I’m 5’6” and 120lbs.

What do you do for a living? I work full time as a Paralegal.

Do you have any kids? Nope, it’s just me and my kitties.

What is your body shape? I’m hourglass with a lean build.

Are you happy with your body? Yes.

Do you naturally have a fast metabolism, or do you feel you really have to work to keep slim? I have a naturally good metabolism, but it has slowed a bit with age.

Have you ever struggled with your weight, what was your experience? Yes. When I got my first desk job I went from a size 4 to size 8! The weight gain was due to eating bad and not exercising enough. I started eating better and got down to size 6. I then ran marathon and actually gained 12 lbs! So after that I got a trainer and it took me over a year to drop from 145 to 125, gaining muscle and doing weight loss the right way takes time. I stayed around 130-35 for five years. Joined new gym at 36 and really got into working out, became vegan at same time, and over next 2 years dropped last 10 pounds to be 120. Hoping to stay under 130 forever. I always make sure at each Birthday I am not over 130 as that is now my max! Proper diet and exercise really are he trick!

What are your trouble zones (if any)? My stomach seems to be the first spot weight goes.

What is your favorite part of your body? My butt!

What is your least favorite part of your body? Triceps seem to need the most work.

How often do you work-out? I work out M, W, Th, Sat.

Do you keep a work-out schedule? I enter my workouts on my outlook calendar and treat them as important as a doctors appointment or business meeting.

What is your usual workout? I take an hour class at the gym, often my friends will join me. I do a chiseled weights workout twice a week, and a lower body weights workout and yoga. I used to run as well and sometimes toss in a spin class.

Do you push yourself hard when you work out? I push myself to the max, I want to see results! Results are what motivate me to keep going, and I won’t see them if I’m half assing it!

Final words on fitness? What worked best for me was getting a personal trainer, I was able to learn the best exercises for my body, then I could mimic workouts on my own. I also got into classes. I say push yourself when you workout, if your not exhausted after each set, your not working out. You need to add weights as you progress and always make sure you are sore the next day. I drink a protein shake within 20 minutes of finishing a workout. Change it up too so you and your body don’t get bored. There are also tons of body weight workouts for when you can’t get to gym like push ups, tricep dips, lunges and squats and crunches and planks for abs. I feel you have to make working out a habit and you must push yourself!

To keep slim you have to eat right! So tell us a bit about your lifestyle?

Do you follow a specific plan? I am mostly Vegan, because….I love animals and the food industry does not treat them well, as well as it’s destroying the earth and oceans with its practices. It’s also really good for your body.

What does a typical day of food look like for you?
Breakfasts: In a rush I will have a Cliff or Luna bar, but if I have time to cook I love a Vegan Tofu scramble w/ beans or oatmeal with fruit.
Lunches: On the menu you’ll find vegan sushi, veggie burrito, healthy salad, or a vegan burger.
Dinners: My staples are rice & beans with salsa, veggie tofu stir fry with brown rice, couscous with tofu, or a salad with soy sausage.
Snacks: Protein shake post workout, Whole Foods trail mix, and pretzel chips with mustard, YUM!
Supplements: Flaxseed Oil and a Vegetarian Multi-Vitamin.
Beverages: I only drink water, unsweetened Iced tea & coffee with soy milk.
Alcoholic beverages: Mostly Wine or beer, I have a couple glasses 2-3 times a week.

Do you have a hangover cure? Advil, water, pickles and taco shop burrito! (Pickles!)

What about “cheating”, what are your favorite naughty foods? Mac n’ Cheese and Taco shop burritos!

Do you cheat often? Maybe once or twice a week.

Do you eat out? I eat out a lot but I try to choose healthy places.

Do you count calories? No, I keep a general tally in my head, I try to stay around 1800-2000 a day.

Do you ever skip meals? No!

How would you describe your portion sizes? They tend to be on the large side.

Any tips on healthy eating? I really recommend vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, it really helps you feel great and you can eat so much more!! Look up menus in advance and plan what you are going to eat, eat lighter on days you don’t work out and can cut the calories, find healthy ways to cook the “bad” things you love, and don’t stress about it…..its about progress, not perfection!

You have a great attitude! You work hard, you exercise, you pay close attention to your health. It’s obviously paying off!

Tell us about your social life? I love spending time with my friends, they mean the world to me, I keep my social life very busy. I’m also close with my family, I hang out with my brother every couple months and I keep in touch with my mom every week.

What would you like to change? I would like to find a relationship, and maybe spend less money.

Do you have a lot of stress in your life? Mild if any, usually about men and money. My best stress relief is hanging out with my friends, getting good sleep, working out and relaxing.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night? 8+

Do you take time for yourself? Definitely, I consider the time I spend at the gym “My time”. I also love to read, shop, see movies and just chill out on the couch with my kitties and catch up on dvr shows.

What is your skin care regimen? I cleanse and scrub, I use a gylcolic toner, spf 45 zinc sunscreen daily, weekly mask, quarterly peels, and botox to brow between eyes. 30spf suncreen on my body when I’m heading out into the sun.

Do you have favorite brands? Elta MD sunscreen, Neutrogena, Doctors Dermologic formula, and Roc eye cream.

What about makeup? I use tinted moisturizer, concealer, mascara, and lip gloss.

Anything else you would like to share about your healthy lifestyle? I have to admit I have pretty much always been thin, but I have also always eaten healthy and exercised. Try a bunch of stuff and find what you like, you will like something!

The Guru says: Tansy has a great life! She plays hard, she works hard! The Vegan lifestyle works great for her, she is educated on how to create well balanced and healthy choices, my only addition would be more fruit and some chlorella powder. She eats very little processed foods and her sugar intake is very low. She pushes herself and stays active regardless of her hectic work schedule. She finds time for herself, her friends and her family. She uses healthy avenues to combat stress. I especially love that she doesn’t skip meals and eats healthy portion sizes. See ladies, you don’t have to starve yourself to get lean! You just have to make the right choices, and stick with your schedule! Thanks Tansy, you’re awesome!!
